Shocase is a social media platform for creatives where they can show their portfolio, build friendships, and foster business opportunities. Atomic produced a series of videos that showed how the website would work, including typical search results and the operational elements. Our challenge was that the website wasn’t yet completed, so we built the look and functionality of the website as animated elements based on the client’s wireframes. The majority of the profiles seen on screen are actors. We hired and recorded more than 50 actors. All actors were shot on green screen and composited with background elements. We had actors change wardrobe, and we used different backgrounds to multiply the number of images at our disposal without making duplicates too obvious. While we shot video of each person, we decided in post production that moving video would be too much of a distraction, so we used freeze frames.
Atomic executed all editing and compositing in Adobe After Effects and on the Autodesk Smoke system.
