Farewell Candlestick.

Our relationship with the San Francisco 49ers started in 2005, and we produced “49ers Total Access” with the team for ten years.
Throughout those years, we spent a lot of time with 49ers legends and staffers reliving some of the team’s greatest moments. Many of those, which also became indelible national sports memories, happened at Candlestick Park. On Monday, December 23, 2013, the team played its last game at Candlestick. The game was a classic, and with a win, the 49ers were in the playoffs. It was a fitting end to a remarkable run. We were on location to tell the story of this important game along with paying tribute to this iconic venue that was filled with a lifetime of memories for so many.
During the post production process, we struggled with finding just the right piece of music. We listened to “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men (who appeared that night at Candlestick) and “When the Lights Go Down” by Journey. Then we found a song that few had ever heard of, a subtle piano arrangement by Ludovico Einaudi called “Nuvole Bianche” (White Clouds). It seemed no words or lyrics could ever capture the extent of emotions that played out that night and an instrumental fit best.
The Farewell Candlestick remains one of our favorite live-event features and makes us miss Candlestick Park to this day. A favorite photo from this night shows two of our company vehicles parked near the field, long after the game, when the lights had been turned out at Candlestick for the last time.
